Rose of Sharon Creations is a mother-daughter run business. Our company is named in honor of Song of Solomon 2:1, "I am the rose of Sharon, a lily of the valleys." The Song of Solomon is a type and a reality. In terms of a type, it depicts and reveals something deeper than what may exist on the surface. The Song of Solomon is a type of the love God has for His people and, ideally, the love the people of God should have for God. It is also a type of the relationship between Christ and the Church, as Christ is the Bridegroom and the church is His bride. It is also the reality that should exist between those who come together to love one another in relationships, and how amazing salvation is and the promise of life lived right now in Christ.
Within this passage, as with the rest of the book, we find both a type and a reality. There is the obvious reality interpretation of the young woman who is speaking in this passage. She is speaking of herself as beautiful, fragrant, resilient, and noticeable. She also speaks of herself as having an eternal connection to God, identifying herself with a plant identified with immortality. While she may go through winter periods, she will always return in full glory.
The type of what she speaks, however, points unto Jesus Christ, the Savior of mankind. He too is beautiful, fragrant, resilient, and noticeable. He is the Resurrection and the Life, which makes Him our path to eternal life. He is truly our eternal connection to God. While people thought Him dead in His three-day winter, He rose back to life. We now await His return to us in the Second Coming, when He shall come in His full glory and authority.
Our items help us to realize how special it is to be a believer as well as how special we are to the Lord. Here we find the celebration of faith: type, reality, shadow, and spiritual.
